I want to take a moment to briefly describe the philosophy behind the medicine I practice, highlighting what makes it unique and effective. Nature cure is a system of medicine based in the restoration of health. The first step in the therapeutic order is finding the cause of dis-ease in the body. The cause of the illness needs to be understood and the inciting factor changed. If only symptoms are addressed, the illness and symptoms will return in time.
The second step in the therapeutic order is stimulating the body’s self-healing mechanisms. Our bodies have an innate healing wisdom and intelligence to restore normal function.
These first two steps must be addressed first, otherwise the higher interventions – botanicals, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, physical alignment, nutritional supplementation, and even pharmaceuticals and surgery (highest levels) – won’t bring about lasting healing.
My work is to identify the cause of illness, remove it, and teach the patient how to stimulate their body’s self-healing mechanisms to bring about “rapid, gentle, and permanent restoration of health” in the words of Jared Zeff, N.D.
